‘We know we're the underdogs’ - Alen Stajcic

The Mariners boss believes their recent defeat to Adelaide United would not take away their high spirit since they are still at the top of the A-League table.

Despite their chances of extending their lead were hindered by a hat-trick from

Adelaide United

’s

Tomi Juric

,

Central Coast Mariners

head-coach, Alen Stajcic, insists that the 3-2 defeat will not cause them to lose their spirit.

The goal scoring started with Mariners’

Daniel De Silva

before Juric scored the game’s equalizer to later be followed by

Alou Kuol

’s goal.

Still that didn’t prevent Juric from adding two other goals for his side and taking away the Mariners chances of  having their first A-League win against Adelaide since 2016.

Talking about the game, Stajcic said:

"It might go the other way and give us even more fire in the belly."

"We already think we're the underdogs, we know we're the underdogs.”

"We're on top of the table because we deserve to be. It doesn't mean we deserved anything tonight but we were probably a bit unlucky.”

"If it is going to take three pens every week to beat us I think we're in a good spot."

Admitting that he expected his men to score up to

'four or five goals'

, the Mariners boss added:

"I thought we were good, we were dangerous in attack.”

"We controlled the game a fair bit. They had a lot of good moments as well but I thought going forward we looked the more dangerous, the more likely.”

"There are lots of good things.”

"I thought we did a reasonable job and it was one of those one in a million games so to dissect it and say we should have done this or we could have done that is a bit tough."
