Veretout: ‘Roma wanted to recover after losing against Juventus’

Jordan Veretout says Roma had to make up for the loss against Juventus and their victory over Udinese is more significant than his brace.

Jordan Veretout

scored twice in the first half to help

Roma

beat

Udinese

3-0 in Serie A at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

“We wanted to recover after losing against Juventus,”

Veretout told DAZN

.

“We won, we are still there and we must continue to work like this. It was a good game today.

“I scored my first header goal, the coach wants me to run into open spaces, it was a nice goal too, but the three points are the most important thing,”

he continued

.

Veretout was asked what

Fonseca

told him after replacing him in the second half.

“We have a target and he told me something I must achieve this season. I am almost there, but the most important thing is the victory, we must continue to work as we did today.”

What’s the target?

“It’s between me and him, if I’ll reach it, I’ll tell you.”

However, Fonseca revealed his bet with the French midfielder saying:

“At the start of the season I said he needed to score at least 10 goals. He’s on nine now, so we joked about that when he came off.
