Nicola: ‘Genoa are part of the past’

Torino manager Davide Nicola reveals the reason behind his habit of gathering players in a circle on the pitch after the final whistle and said he is not looking for revenge against his former club.

The Granata are currently sitting 17th in Serie A table with only one-point difference above the relegation zone following their run of four straight draws.

“It’s part of the past,”

Nicola said at a press conference.

“Now, I focus on the present.

“Our importance and awareness are linked to the fact that work will give us continuity.

“The growth process can’t be a slave of external factors.”

“In my career, I have always accepted exciting challenges and that’s how I arrived at an important club like Torino,” he said.

“I try to convey my desire to get to the bottom of this experience.”

Nicola explained why he gathers players in a circle on the pitch at the end of the match.

“We look for consistency of the messages given in the games,”

Nicola said at a press conference.

“Trying to strengthen the values regardless of the result.

“When we don’t have the required belief but don’t let it influence us, that's what makes the difference.”
