Bayern Munich player Gnabry is out "for the foreseeable future"

Bayern Munich are apparently without Serge Gnabry, who sustained a thigh injury at the FIFA Club World Cup for “for the foreseeable future”.

The Germany international will be sidelined for quite some time as no timescale has been put on his absence.

A statement on the club’s official website read:

“FC Bayern will have to do without Serge Gnabry for the foreseeable future.

“The forward tore a muscle in his left thigh in yesterday's 1-0 triumph in the FIFA Club World Cup final against Tigres UANL.

“The injury was confirmed following an examination by the FC Bayern medical unit.

“Gnabry has played in 28 of 32 competitive matches so far this season and scored six goals.”

Gnabry

has scored six goals and provided four assists in the 2020-21 campaign.

The 25-year-old has performed in 18 of Bayern’s 20 Bundesliga matches this term but now being on the sidelines, he will miss big matches in domestic and continental competition.

This season, Bayern have slipped out of the DFB-Pokal, however, are trying to defend their Bundesliga crown and will play against Arminia Bielefeld on Monday.

Flick’s men will head to Eintracht Frankfurt before playing against Lazio in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash on February 23.
