Celtic striker Albian Ajeti charged for dive against Kilmarnock
Celtic striker Albian Ajeti has been offered a two-match ban by the Scottish FA over an alleged dive in Celtic’s victory over Kilmarnock.
The Switzerland international has been charged with making the referee
Kevin
Clancy
to wrongly award a penalty.
goalkeeper
Colin Doyle
was judged to have brought down the Swiss forward during the 4-0 win at Rugby Park, though replays showed there was minimal contact.
Odsonne Edouard
stepped up to dispatch the penalty and put
Celticinto a 2-0 lead.
After the game, Kilmarnock's caretaker
James Fowler
had questioned the penalty decision.
He said:
"I've seen some of the goals back and certainly when you look at their second, I don't think it's a penalty.
"Speaking to the fourth official, he said the referee and the linesman were having a conversation and there was a delay in the award, so that tells its own story."
Three ex-referees have reviewed the footage and decided the 23-year-old deserves punishment for simulation.
