Newcastle defender has "Visa issues" as per their coach, Steve Bruce

The future for Newcastle's DeAndre Yedlin is unknown after head manager Steve Bruce uncovered there was a "visa issue" that kept him from being included against Aston Villa.

The news comes after the USMNT player said a week ago about the club's reluctance to talk over another arrangement.

The right-back's contract will end in the late spring, and it appears now faces a dubious future.

The Magpies head coach was asked about the 27-year-old's absence during the 2-0

Premier League

rout at Villa Park:

"There's an issue with his visa." he replied.

"I'm not sure quite how quickly it will be resolved, but there's certainly an issue there. We'll let you know when he's available."

Saturday night's defeat persevered Newcastle's disappointing run. The Magpies have found the net only once in the last eight fixtures and have lost six of their previous eight Premier League games, including the last consecutive four games.

The news suggests that Bruce wants to get another coach to work close by assistants Stephen Clemence and Steve Agnew to attempt to capture the current droop, with

Graeme Jones

at Bournemouth vigorously connected.

Likewise, Bruce was asked about the chance of acquiring Jones, he answered:

“I can’t comment on that. I’ve just finished a game and there’s no comment

.”

When inquired as to whether he and his team need some assistance on the training staff, Bruce stated:

“I am more concentrated on what we’ve seen.

“What encouraged me was to see Ryan (Fraser) and Allan (Saint-Maximin) on the pitch because, straightaway, we looked more of a threat.”
