Flick provides an update on Gnabry’s injury

Sun 17 January 2021 | 19:20

The Germany international was sent off 28 minutes into the clash against Freiburg which came down to a 2-1 win for Bayern Munich as they lead the Bundesliga table.

Hansi Flick

has reassured that

Bayern Munich

attacker

Serge Gnabry

did not sustain a severe injury in the 2-1 win over

Freiburg

.

The 25-year-old was out of action in his side’s loss to

Borussia Monchengladbach

due to a shin injury. Gnabry had to be substituted after 28 minutes on Sunday but Bayern Munich manager Flick is confident that he’ll return soon.

"

The injury is not serious; I have heard from the doctors. The muscle in his back cramped up,

" said the Bayern boss.

When Gnabry left the game, Bayern took the lead courtesy of Robert Lewandowski’s 21st goal this season. Freiburg pushed to level the game through Nils Petersen in the 62nd minute, with the tally of 28 goals in

Bundesliga

.

Leroy Sane, who was substituted for Gnabry, set Thomas Muller up – who contributed his 125th assist in top-flight – for the second goal and sealing the three points. Flick was satisfied with Sane’s performance.

"

I don't like singling out individual players but he did very well and did things the team would like to see from him,

" said Flick.

"We saw good development. He proved today that he is always good for an assist or a goal

."

RB Leipzig

drew the clash against Wolfsburg on Saturday, falling four points behind the leaders Bayern Munich.

Flick said: "

I'm not interested in the table at the moment. We have to look at ourselves and be focused on Augsburg and Schalke as we are today.

"It's good to have achieved a four-point lead, that is extremely important. For us, only our results count."

Bayern will go away to

Augsburg

on Wednesday.
