Neymar back in training but doubtful for Marseille match

The Brazilian star has been struggling with an ankle problem but is now spending last phase of his recovery.

Neymar

has been sidelined since he was injured in

PSG

’s match against Lyon on December 13. A tough challenge from

Thiago Mendes

damaged the 28-year-old’s ankle and he has not been able to play since then. Much has changed during this period as the old boss Thomas Tuchel was sacked from Park des Prince and

Mauricio Pochettino

took charge of the team. In addition to Neymar, Pochettino has to deal with the absence of a lot more injured players including Presnel Kimpembe, Leandro Paredes, Mauro Icardi, Danilo Pereira, Juan Bernat, Layvin Kurzawa, and Alessandro Florenzi.

However, Neymar has returned to training alongside Kimpembe and Paredes while Icardi, Florenzi, and Kurzawa were all included in the team’s squad for their match against Brest. Considering his key role in the team it is expected that Neymar won’t start the team’s next match against Marseille as Pochettino will need him in his side’s important upcoming matches. After facing

Marseille

on Wednesday, PSG will continue their

Ligue 1

campaign with a match against Angers three days later.
