Guardiola confident of De Bruyne's contract renewal

De Bruyne has rejected the first contract offered by Manchester City.

Kevin De Bruyne

has been Manchester City’s best player in recent years without a doubt. The Belgian magician has already 2 and half years until the expiration of his contract however

Manchester City

have already started negotiations with him over a new contract extension.

De Bruyne has rejected the Citizen’s initial offer as he did not find the terms acceptable but

Pep Guardiola

is pretty sure that the 29 years old playmaker will stay at Manchester City.

"I'm pretty sure that he will stay but at the same time we have to respect the process,"

Guardiola told Sky Sports.

"I don't know what's going on because I didn't speak with Txiki [Begiristain, Man City director of football] but he knows how we perceive him - not just as a football player, but as a person, how important he is for the club. But I'm not worried.

"At the end it's his decision and hopefully it's going to finish well."
