For his college career, he went to Utah Utes in the United States in 2003/04. This former basketball player became the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year and made it to the second-team All-Mountain West Conference in his first season as a freshman.

Peja Stojakovic played for Red Star Belgrade and PAOK Thessaloniki in Serbia and Greece before moving to the United States.
