When Reyes was 16, he began his senior career with Sevilla and kept playing there for five years. In the 1999-2000 season, Reyes played for Sevilla B, and he ended it after making 32 appearances and scoring one goal.

If you are a serious football fan that follows most of the related news to the football world and even footballers, you might have heard about what happened to Jose Antonio Reyes in 2019 and the sad ending of his life. 

However, it was not the only painful event that year. Emiliano Sala, the 28-year-old Argentinian forward, died in a sudden single-engine Piper Malibu plane crash on 21 January 2019. It had passed about six months from his death, which the football world faced the loss of the Spanish legend, Jose Antonio Reyes. 

On 1 June 2019, Reyes was in a car accident termed "a traffic collision" on his country road- A-376. It is a road that links Utrera with Sevilla, Spain. Unfortunately, the crash led to his death.

Based on the published facts on The Sun, a British tabloid newspaper, Reyes died in his car with his cousins. One of them was Jonathan Ryes, who died immediately in the accident, and the other one was Manuel Calderon, who went to a hospital in serious condition.

After the accident, a collision occurred, and Reyes busted into fires. However, driving off an embankment is another narrative that a closer source published, which the Police's explanation fits better to this story. Following the death of the famous footballer, the Spanish Police Authorities analyzed the accident.

At first, they announced that his speed at the moment of the occurrence was about 220 km/h (135 mph) and later reported it was between 111 km/h (69 mph) and 130 km/h (81mph), which is over Spain's speed limit, about 75 mph (120kmph).

They found it the main reason for his death, which made him unable to escape an embarkment, which led to the crash.However, the Police announced that despite driving faster than the speed limit, a steering or tire failure led him to lose control of the car.
