, Murray had been moved to League One team Brighton & Hove Albion throughout the January transfer window, and eventually completed his transfer to the Withdean Stadium on 25 January 2008 for a reported £300,000.

He made his debut four days later, entering the game as a 61st-minute substitute for Nathan Elder in the 1–0 loss to

. He began Albion's next game, on 2 February at their home stadium to

, and tallied two goals on his home debut in the 3–0 win. Murray added nine goals for Brighton throughout the 2007–08 season.

Despite suffering several injuries during the 2008–09 season, Murray, one of the

, made 28 appearances and scored 12 goals. In the team's 4–0 victory versus

during the first round of the League Cup on 12 August 2008, he was off the pitch.

On 27 September, he scored two times in a 2–2 draw at Northampton Town; his second goal helped the team win during the added time before

At this point, he was established as one of the Brighton top scorers of all time. A week later he netted another two goals in the first seven minutes and ended the match with his first hat-trick for the club in a 3–3 draw with

On 17 October 2009, Murray won and scored a penalty for a winner in a 2–1 loss at

, but after three minutes, he was taken out of the game for another yellow card. He netted four goals in Brighton's 5–2 victory at

on 28 December, a result that eliminated Brighton's threat of relegation.

Murray's season finished on 24 April 2010 with Brighton's 2–1 victory against

to remain in the division. He was taken out ten minutes after coming in as a replacement for

The 2010–11 season was Murray's best season so far at Brighton. He scored 22 goals and finished runner-up to

as League's best scorer. That included a hat-trick on 1 January 2011 in a 5–0 win against

. On 20 May, the team announced that Murray had extended his contract with the team, and would be a free agent when his contract ends.

On 3 July 2016, Murray, one of the Brighton top scorers of all time, returned to Brighton & Hove Albion on a season-long loan. His second term with the Sussex team happened on 6 August at Derby County, while his first goal in his second term happened at home against

six days later; he netted his second in the same game as Albion won 3–0.

Brighton got the same results at Falmer Stadium four days later versus

, and Murray was again one of the scorers. On 29 October, Murray got a hat-trick versus

at Falmer as Brighton achieved a 5–0 victory, and on 18 November he netted his 150th League goal in a 1–1 draw with

On 31 January 2017, Murray signed permanently with Brighton & Hove Albion and will play for them until June 2019. He had netted 15 goals in 28 games while he was loaned to the team in the first half of the season.

He scored 8 additional goals in the remainder of the season, which include the first goal in a 2–1 home victory versus

on 17 April that guaranteed Brighton's promotion to the first tier for the first time in the history of the team.

Ashley Barnes

He was signed by Austria in their youth international team and appeared in one game for their U-20 team in 2008, but his request for citizenship was denied in 2019.

Afterward, Barnes joined Brighton & Hove Albion as part of a loan till the end of the season. He netted a goal on his debut versus

two days later, ten minutes into the game in which he entered as a substitute.

On 8 July 2010, Barnes signed a two-year contract with Brighton & Hove Albion, where he became one of the Brighton highest goal scorers ever, after transferring for an undisclosed fee from Plymouth Argyle. On 12 April 2011, he netted the winning goal in a 4–3 victory at home stadium versus

, which secured their promotion to the Championship.

Barnes ended the season as Brighton's second-best goalscorer while trailing Glenn Murray, with 20 goals in 49 games. On 9 March 2013, Barnes got a red card in the match against

for trying to jostle the referee.

He was then suspended for seven games by the Football Association. The fans and manager Gus Poyet criticized Barnes for his behavior because it left the club with only one striker on the roster, because Will Hoskins and Craig Mackail-Smith were already injured and couldn't play for the remainder of the season.

Nicky Forster

Nicholas Michael Forster, one of the

In January 2007, Brighton & Hove Albion made an ineffective £100,000 offer to Forster. Nevertheless, at the end of the 2006–07 season, Forster announced he's willing to go back to southern England for personal reasons, and finally signed a three-year deal with Brighton for £75,000 in late June 2007. 

Forster was selected team captain after Dean Hammond left the team in January 2008 and was officially appointed by the new manager Micky Adams for the 2008–09 season. He won the League One Player of The Month title for September 2009 as a result of scoring five goals in four games.

After losing his position on the first team due to a contract disagreement with the current manager Gus Poyet, Forster moved from Brighton to

on 25 March 2010 as a temporary transfer until the end of the season. At the end of the season, Forster's contract at Brighton ended and he left the team.

Leon Knight

There are many big names among the All-time top goal scorers in Brighton history. Leon Leroy Knight is an English footballer who plays as a striker and he is one of the Brighton top scorers of all time.

Moving from team to team, Knight made appearances for fifteen different teams across five different countries; Greece, England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

He began his career with

and spent temporary spells in

before moving permanently to Brighton in 2003.

Soon after joining, Knight became one of the Brighton top goal scorers ever. Knight spent three years at Brighton, scored 30 goals in 106 games. He was then moved to

in 2006 as part of a loan to

and afterward, to Wycombe Wanderers.

Knight joined

in 2008, but he left the team after five months when he got fired because of misconduct. He, then moved to Greece to play for Thrasivoulos Fylis, and then Scotland to play for Queen of the South and

and Northern Ireland to play for

before he joined

in January 2012.

His contract was released by Glentoran in June 2012 after one of the conditions in his contract was invoked by the team.

During his time at Huddersfield, he revived the Terriers' playoff efforts and created a unique partnership with local icon Andy Booth, and earned himself the name '

Even though, his transfer was free at first, if Brighton were promoted £50,000 had to be paid. Knight was the one who made Brighton's promotion happen with a penalty kick against Bristol City in the final round of play-offs at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff in 2004.

Tomer Hemed
