Di Maria admits it’s his “fault” Juventus lost against Monza

The Argentina international has released an apology statement to the Bianconeri supporters, teammates and the club following his red card, which he received in the battle against Monza. He is likely to be out of action for the battle against the Rossoneri as well. “It is purely my fault that we lost.”

Juventus

lost the battle against

Monza

1-0 on Sunday. The Bianconeri had to play with 10 players 40 minutes into the match with Monza as

Angel Di Maria

was held by Armando Izzo and his response was aggressive by smashing his elbow into the ribs of the defender. His reaction was clearly a foul and a red card as a punishment was inevitable.

Due to the fact that he showed a violent behavior, Di Maria knows that he will receive more punishment than just one match ban. Therefore, he will most likely be suspended for the battle against Bologna and Milan. The player issued an apology to the club fans, his teammates and his club.

“I wish to apologise to everyone for that inappropriate reaction I had on the pitch,”

wrote the Argentina international on Instagram.

“Having left the team a man down in such a difficult moment of the season made us lose the game. It is purely my fault that we lost.

“I am so very sorry. I am a professional, but also a human being who makes mistakes and can recognise them.”
