PSG honor Messi and Donnarumma ahead of Nice clash

Donnarumma and Messi showed their recently won rewards to the Parisian fans before the Ligue 1 clash.

Lionel Messi

and

Gianluigi Donnarumma

were both honored by

Paris Saint-Germain

before the start of the Ligue 1 clash against OGC Nice on Wednesday.

The Argentine superstar managed to beat Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski in the race to become the best player of the year and won his seventh Ballon d’Or.

PSG goalkeeper Donnarumma also came out of the ceremony full-handed, as the 22-year-old managed to win Lev Yashin award for the best goalkeeper of the year.

Donnarumma and Messi both displayed their awards at the Parc des Princes before the kick-off against Nice, where Mauricio Pochettino’s men were held to a 0-0 draw.

Donnarumma reflected on the draw in a post-match interview, saying although they are disappointed with the result, they’ll try their hardest to become more ‘solid’.

“We knew it would be a tough game, we’re disappointed because we wanted to win in front of our fans,”

the Italian said.

“After every game we try to find positives from the negatives. We are going to try to be more solid and to win all the upcoming games. It won’t be easy, but we are going to do our best.”
