Tuchel rules out Norwich game as the turning point for Hudson-Odoi

The Chelsea outcast might get a chance to play for the Blues as Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku are both injured.

Chelsea will face Norwich City in their next Premier League match on Saturday. The Blues are hoping to stay at the top of the Premier League table, but the

of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku might affect their firepower.

With Lukaku, Werner, and Christian Pulisic out of the game, Callum Hudson-Odoi might get a chance to appear in the Blues’ starting lineup. However, Thomas Tuchel says displaying a good performance won’t provide the English winger with a turning point.

"The only person who can decide this and answer this question is Callum,"

the Chelsea boss told reporters.

"It’s as easy as that. Is there a turning point? OK, he needs to prove it. He needs to play the next 250 games on the highest level and then that was the turning point. But is it a turning point if he does a brilliant match tomorrow? No.

"It’s only a turning point if he makes it a turning point – and only if he does not only do one good match, one good half, 60 good minutes, but if he does it consistently,” Tuchel added. “It’s as easy as that with every player.”

Hudson-Odoi has featured in only two Premier League games for Chelsea this season. The 20-year-old displayed an impressive performance against Malmo on Wednesday, providing an assist for the Blues’ third goal in their 4-0 victory.

Tuchel added:

"Once you do this you will have more minutes. Once you have more minutes you will maybe look back and say: ‘That was a turning point.’ You need to fight for it. You need to deserve it. It must be a perfect fit in a perfect moment. Sometimes you need a bit of luck. But in the end the only person who can answer that question is Callum. And we will support him."

Following their game against Norwich, Tuchel’s side will play against Southampton in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
