Klopp criticizes Southgate for moving Alexander-Arnold forward

The German coach believes Southgate has assigned incorrect tasks to his team's defender.

Liverpool

boss Jurgen Klopp has criticized Gareth Southgate for his decision to move Trent Alexander-Arnold to the attacking line, saying he could not understand the decision.

England defeated Andorra 4-0 in their last match and Alexander-Arnold played in the midfield in the first half and had attacking duties and returned to his usual position in the second half. The Liverpool right-back has been more successful than any other player this season in creating chances (15) , with Klopp now criticizing Gareth Southgate for his decision over Arnold.

"If you watch our games, Trent's position already changed when possible,"

Klopp told reporters.

"[There is] no need to make him a midfielder now. It's a shame we talk about this in 2021, good players play everywhere, Trent plays right-wing, everywhere.

"Some people think he could be more influential in midfield. How is it possible to be more influential than Trent Alexander-Arnold? We use him as good as we can.

"But why would you make the best right-back in the world a midfielder? I struggle to understand how you can think that."
