We cannot afford the prices - Pep Guardiola

Manchester City are looking to buy a replacement for Aguero, who recently joined Barcelona, but it seems that the high price of the players has pushed the Blues away from their demands.

Manchester City

have already made an offer of £100m for

Harry Kane

, but it seems unlikely that Tottenham will sell their star to their opponents for that amount. Guardiola, who is also interested in Erling Haaland, says that his team may be reluctant to sign a new player due to the high cost.

"

At the prices (quoted) we are not going to buy any strikers. It is impossible, we cannot afford it,

" Guardiola told Catalan network TV3.

"All clubs are struggling financially, we are not an exception. We have Gabriel (Jesus) and Ferran (Torres) who have been incredible in this position.

"We have young players in the academy and we play many times with a false nine. There is more of a chance we aren't going to buy a striker for next season.

"We'll do whatever we can do in the transfer window and if we can't, we'll still have the squad that has won the league three times in four years and reached the Champions League final."

Kane is currently in Euro 2020 and is unlikely to make a decision on his future before the end of the tournament. It is said that Tottenham want at least £120m for him.
