Vidal tests positive for Covid-19 and is hospitalized
The Chile international will not feature for his country in the World Cup qualifier clashes against Argentina and Bolivia as he tested positive for coronavirus.
Arturo Vidal
is in quarantine in hospital after his Covid-19 test turned out positive. When the 34-year-old was with the Chile national team, his test came back positive and he cannot represent his country in the World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Bolivia.
Should Vidal’s recovery go smoothly, he will return to action for the Copa America, which starts on June 11.
Chile’s Football Federation declared that his diagnosis was revealed after he got a bout of tonsillitis.
Chile national team stated:
"The medical staff of the Chilean national team point out that at the request of Arturo Vidal, it is announced that he was diagnosed in the daily preventive examination with positive COVID."
The statement was posted on Monday and it added:
"Arturo has been hospitalised and isolated from the group for more than 72 hours in a preventive measure indicated by the medical team, due to the presence of previously reported severe pleural tonsillitis, corroborated by specialists in infectious and respiratory diseases and with negative PCR controls.
"It is noted that all the rest of the delegation is with negative PCR today in accordance with health protocols."
Vidal talked about his belief in catching the virus from a friend in an
post and he said that his friend did not show any symptoms.
To make sure his infection doesn’t turns into an outbreak, Chile are constantly checking on him and running tests.
