Zinedine Zidane will hold talks with club over his future
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has said he will hold talks with the club board over his future after a lackluster season.
Zidane’s side had to settle for second even after coming from behind to beat
Villarreal2-1 in their final game of the season as
Atleticodid exactly the same at
Real Valladolidto preserve their two-point lead at the top of the table.
While
Diego Simeone
was celebrating Atletico’s first title since 2014,
Zidane
was batting away questions about whether he will remain in charge at Real after a trophyless campaign.
“We have given everything on the pitch and I am responsible for that,”
he told a post-match interview with
Mundo Deportivo.
“But with time I will be calm and I will talk to the club, and in the next few days we will see.
“We will see what will happens shortly. Not only with me, with everything the club is going to do for the next season.”
Zidane has a year left to his current deal at the Spanish capital but he is not willing to extend his stay beyond that.
