Pique and Sergi Roberto return for El Clasico, Hazard is missing
Barcelona have been given a huge boost ahead of their crucial game against Real Madrid as club’s defender Gerard Pique is available after being sidelined for a month.
The 34-year-old defender has been named in
Barcelona’s squad for Saturday’s vital La Liga clash with
Real Madridfor the first time since suffering a knee injury at the end of February.
Sergi Roberto
is also available for
Ronald Koeman
’s side after being sidelined for two months due to a thigh injury.
However, things are not very good for Real Madrid as
Sergio Ramos
,
Raphael Varane
, and
Eden Hazard
are all missing from the selection.
"It is important [to have Pique] because of his quality and personality,"
Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman said at his pre-match press conference.
"[Pique and Roberto] lack the rhythm of matches, but they are physically well and excited. It is important to have them."
Asked if he would play Pique even if he's not 100 percent fit, Koeman responded:
"It depends on the moment of the game. Any player has to be in perfect physical and mental condition - but there are players who by personality and being captain are important.
"My job is to look for the best 11 players to achieve an important result."
