NBA Draft 2024 rankings: top prospects

Soccer is one of the most popular sports worldwide and attracts an army of passionate fans who follow every kick in leagues like Serie A, the English Premier League, La Liga and beyond.

Most soccer fans, though, enjoy keeping up with other sports too. Basketball is one that has always attracted a lot of attention and the NBA in particular stands out as its premier competition.

For anyone who enjoys keeping up with the NBA, the annual draft is always a major event. This sees the top college stars moving into pro ball, hoping to carve out a stellar

NBA career

to rival that of Wilt Chamberlain or LeBron James. The NBA Draft is also something the best sportsbooks online carry to wager on, and sees odds given for which sides will pick up a certain young player or which player will go at number one spot in the draft.

With 2024’s NBA Draft fast approaching in June, now is the ideal time to look at who the most promising prospects are to keep an eye on. These could be the players who light up the league as rookies next season and go on to become legends of the game.

1. Zaccharie Risacher – Small forward from JL Bourg

Young players always attract lots of attention from fans looking for the next big thing. This is easy to see in soccer, where the

latest soccer news and stories

can often focus on emerging starlets. In basketball, the NBA Draft gets plenty of headlines for the same reason, and the class of 2024 is headed up by 6-foot-10 small forward Zaccharie Risacher.

Many NBA fans expect him to go as number one pick and this is easy to understand when his many attributes are considered. His huge frame is an obvious physical advantage and this should become even more prominent as he fills out.

Risacher also has plenty of skill, though, and has been averaging 11.4 points per game for his side in France. He is a very consistent and efficient shooter for his age, with a 47.3% rate from the three-point standing out. His ability to operate as a switchable defender is also a major plus and something that many NBA sides will value.

2. Alex Sarr – Power forward or center for Perth

While Zaccharie Risacher may be tall, even he cannot compete with the height advantage that 7-foot-1 Alex Sarr has to rely on. Currently playing for Perth, Sarr uses his massive frame most effectively on defense and is a very capable shot blocker.

In addition, he has also showed some impressive creativity on offense and has the ability to make some killer passes. Although his outside shot rate isn’t that amazing yet, at around 28.3%, he has shown enough to demonstrate it could be a key part of his game for any NBA team moving ahead.

3. Cody Williams – Shooting guard or small forward for Colorado

News that the

NBA Draft 2024 will be held over two days

may have made fans sit up and take notice – and the same should happen when Cody Williams makes his transition to pro ball. His stats make for impressive reading and clearly show that he has what it takes to enjoy a long, successful pro ball career.

A points per game average of 14.0 is eye-catching, as is his 62.3% shooting from the floor. He is also a fine passer of the ball and someone who has shown he can effectively initiate attacks for his team. His defensive game looks to be progressing nicely, with a real versatility to this side of his play and the ability to fight over screens.

4. Rob Dillingham – Point guard for Kentucky

Another star of the US college system who looks likely to be in high demand come draft day is Rob Dillingham. He is currently averaging 14.3 points per game and this combines with 4.5 assists and 1.6 steals to make him a real pro ball prospect. It is perhaps his dynamic play that marks him out as a young player with massive potential, though.

He has a real athleticism about him that makes it simple for him to get around the court. Dillingham also has proper open-court explosiveness, excellent dribbling skills and an accurate shot. Although he will need to work on the defensive side of his game in the NBA, this is something that any decent coaching setup can help with.
