Messi credits Mbappe for a ‘crazy’ World Cup final

With the dust settled on the incredible 2022 World Cup final, Lionel Messi has opened up about the experience

Argentina beat France in a memorable World Cup final that ended in a 3-3 draw with Albiceleste being crowned champions after the penalties. Messi scored a brace and his

PSG

teammate Kylian Mbappe answered with a hattrick, making for one hell of an entertaining match.

With a few months behind him and the final,

Leo Messi

, who completed his trophy collection by capping it off with a World Cup, is now opening up about the experience of facing teammate Kylian Mbappe.

"It really was a breathtaking final, it's crazy how the match went. Kylian's performance was great too. Scoring three goals in a final and not being able to be a champion was something crazy,"

Messi told PSG's YouTube channel.

"But he's already won it too, he knows what it is to be world champion. But it was a beautiful final for the world of football. And now it's nice to be able to play for the same team and hopefully we can do great things in Paris,"

he added.

Messi was awarded the Golden Ball, having won it before in 2014, and Mbappe won the Golden Boot of the tournament. The two must join forces to help PSG make a comeback against Bayern Munich in the Champions League this week.
