Spalletti wants Napoli to seize ‘unprecedented’ chance to win the Serie A
Napoli beat Salernitana to reach the 50-point mark, moving 12 points clear of the second-placed AC Milan.
With a gap of 12 points between them and AC Milan as well as Juventus being hit with a 15-point deduction penalty,
Napoliboss Spalletti wants the club to seize this “unprecedented opportunity” to win the Serie A.
"We know that we have an unprecedented opportunity,"
Spalletti told DAZN after the win.
"We must not squander the possibilities we have. We must remain humble and do things professionally."
The Partenopei were patient in their 2-0 victory on Sunday as
Osimhenand Di Lorenzo scored to take them to 50 points. Spalletti praised the performance of his team, saying:
"These matches can be conditioned by us having too much responsibility.
"You have to take the field with the right mentality and always play football well, with the correct rhythm, which is what makes you win the games.
"In the first half we couldn't find the spaces and indeed we could have risked some dangerous restarts. In the second half, however, everyone did very well."
Napoli captain Di Lorenzo also chimed in, speaking about Napoli’s performance as well as the season so far, saying:
"It's a beautiful first half [of the season]. We lost important players last summer, but we got off to a great start with a new group. We have to continue like this.
"We've improved a lot in game management. We know that every game will be difficult. Tonight's is a great victory."
