“I want to stay. I’m very happy” claims Gabriel Martinelli

The 21-year-old winger who has been instrumental in Arsenal’s upwards trajectory under Arteta jokes he only needs a pen to sign his new contracts

Martinelli who through a master stroke from technical director, Edu, was brought from the fourth division of Brazilian football to Arsenal in 2019 and continued to score 10 goals for the Gunners in his debut season, claims he is happy at the club and wishes to extend his contract.

Martinelli’s current contract has still 18 months with an option to extend for another year but the

Gunners

will be looking to lock him down long term to stave off any potential suitor.

Edu has been busy dealing with several of Arsenal’s stars new contract offers, chief among them Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Martinelli, who himself confirmed last month that he was talking with the club about an extension.

The Brazilian scored his 5th goal of the season against Forest and now expresses his love for the club and his need to extend his stay at Emirates.

“I’m very happy at Arsenal. I said it many times. This is my club. I love to be here, I love the city, the club, everything about Arsenal.

“I want to stay. I’m very happy. They just need a pen.”

Martinelli currently earns £70,000 a week, reportedly. However, this new contract is said to be at least double that and in the £150,000, making him one of the top earners at the club.

The Gunners will be facing Zurich at Emirates tonight, hoping to secure their top spot in ther group and thus ensuring a straight Round of 16 qualification in the Europa League, avoiding an additional two matches that second placed teams must go through. They also hold a two-point lead in the Premier League, thanks to players like

Martinelli
