Pellegrini confirms Bartra’s move as he rules out more Betis signings
Winning the Copa del Rey, Manuel Pellegrini heads into his third season with Betis with only three players costing Real Betis any money. Despite expectations continuing to grow, Manuel Pellegrini rules out further reinforcements this summer, confirming Bartra’s transfer to Trabzonspor.
Ahead of
Real Betis‘ opening match of the season against Elche, Pellegrini confirmed the exit of
Marc Bartraas the Beticos are now able to register their new signings made this summer as well as those that have signed new contracts. The 31-year-old Bartra had only one year remaining on his contract and joined Trabzonspor.
“We would have liked to analyse it from a different point of view, but there is an economic situation that means we cannot do so. The objective is to keep the squad as strong as possible following the exits of Joel, [Cristian] Tello and now [Marc] Bartra.
“It allows us to replace them just like last year. The sporting criteria, the work of Antonio [Cordon, Sporting Director] and the arrival of important players for free has allowed us to maintain our footballing strength.”
Although Bartra preferred to stay in Seville,
TrabzonsporPresident Ahmet Agaoglu convinced the Spaniard to join the Turkish side on a €5m transfer. Many thought Betis would make
Hector Bellerin's loan move from Arsenal permanent this summer, Pellegrini’s words are a blow to such aspirations.
