Atletico Madrid keen on signing Arsenal defender William Saliba
William Saliba is a target for Atletico Madrid. As reported by Caught Offside, this is according to L'Equipe.
According to the outlet,
Diego Simeone
is a fan of the French center-back, who is presently on loan at
Marseillefrom Arsenal. Saliba, moved to Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in 2019.
However, he has yet to make his Arsenal first-team debut and has instead been loaned out, first to Saint-Etienne, then to Nice, and most recently to Marseille.
But the 21-year-old is prospering in the south of France, having appeared in 45 games for Jorge Sampaoli's team this season in all competitions. Marseille is in second place in
Ligue 1, trailing behind Paris Saint-Germain.
After a dismal season in
LaLiga, Atletico Madrid is looking to strengthen their defense this summer. They are presently fighting for a place in the top four alongside Barcelona, Sevilla, Real Betis, and Real Sociedad.
They conquered the Primera Division last season, although they are currently 15 points behind current toppers Real Madrid.
