West Ham ready to sign Nikola Vlasic as Lingard's future is unclear

West Ham are close to finalising a £25 million deal to capture CSKA Moscow's Nikola Vlasic.

David Moyes

has been looking to improve his offensive alternatives and has looked to the Croatian when it became clear that

Jesse Lingard

would be staying at Manchester United this season.

Lingard shone during a successful loan stint at West Ham United under Moyes last season, with the 28-year-old's display putting him back in England coach Gareth Southgate's mind.

However, Manchester United manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

recently stated that Lingard has a significant role to play this season at the club, with the midfielder focused on breaking into the first team.

Vlasic earlier had a disappointing two-year stint with Everton, which ended in 2019.

Everton signed the 23-year-old from Hadjuk Split on closing day in the summer of 2017 for roughly £8 million, although he only played in 19 matches during his time with the club.

After impressing then-Everton manager Ronald Koeman, he faced difficulties for game time under Sam Allardyce, who took over from the departing Dutchman in November 2017.

Vlasic, who plays as a No 10, was a member of Croatia's

Euro 2020

team and scored the game's first goal in a 3-1 win over Scotland, ensuring qualifying for the Round of 16 stage.
