‘Nothing seems to faze him’ Sydney coach praises Calem Nieuwenhof

Steve Corica’s team secured their first A-League win this season by two spectacular goals.

Sydney FC

played their second A-League match of the season on Saturday as they faced

Wellington Phoenix

in an away match. The Blue Skies were able to score the opener by their 19-year-old midfielder

Calem Nieuwenhof

who scored a stunning shot from outside the box. Mirza Muratovic’s goal in the first half’s extra time was not enough for Phoenix to escape the defeat as Luke Brattan’s 55th-minute goal secured the first victory of the season for Sydney. Nieuwenhof made his debut for the defending champions and his promising performance was acknowledged by the team’s boss

Steve Corica

.

"He's pretty laid back and nothing seems to faze him too much and it showed again today,

"I don't think a bit of praise will harm him."

Two-time club golden boot winner

Adam Le Fonde

departed from Sydney in the summer to play in India but it seems that The Blue Skies has found a way to compensate for his absence by integrating young talents in their squad.
