Braithwaite silences critics with Sociedad brace on Twitter

Barcelona was eager to conclude a deal for Braithwaite this summer as they were looking to ease the burden on the wage bill due to their Covid-related financial struggles.

The Blaugrana accepted a €15m bid from West Ham for the Denmark international’s

signature. However, the Dane international opts against a move and is keen on remaining a Barcelona player for the remaining of his contract, which runs until 2024.

With many Barca fans wanting the Dane out of their club, Braithwaite earned the man-of-the-match award for his efforts during Barcelona’s 4-2 La Liga victory over Real Sociedad.

Assisted by their summer signing, Memphis Depay, Gerard Pique scored the opener in the 19th minute. Martin Braithwaite then scored a brace to send the Blaugrana clear ahead to earn a well-deserved man of the match award.

“Some people like to talk,”

Braithwaite tweeted

following the Sociedad victory. “I do my talking on the pitch.”

With his international side the Dane competed at Euro 2020 and made it to the semi-final,

where they were beaten by England in a hard-fought clash

.

Joining Barcelona from Leganes in January 2020, the Danish striker has made 40 appearances for the Blaugrana and has bagged three goals.

The 30-year-old striker had represented Esbjerg fB, Toulouse, Middlesborough, and Bordeaux previously before signing for the Camp Nou side.

In addition to his club career, the striker has also scored ten goals in 53 appearances for Denmark.
