Mon 02 August 2021 | 8:42

Joining Barcelona from CD Leganes in a deal worth €18 million, Braithwaite has four years remaining on his current deal with Barcelona.

However, the club is eager to conclude a deal for

this summer as they look to ease the burden on the wage bill in a bid to re-register

Lionel Messi

and ratify their four new signings with La Liga.

it was reported earlier

that Braithwaite is on the verge of completing a €15m permanent move to the Premier League side, West Ham.

However, now according to

Mundo Deportivo

, the Denmark international opts against a move and is keen on remaining a Barcelona player for the remaining of his contract, which runs until 2024.

The Dane did not feature in Barca’s last pre-season friendly against Stuttgart. The outlet reports that the reason behind Ronald Koeman’s decision was the fact the 30-year-old did not return for pre-season until late in the summer due to participation at Euro 2020.

The outlet reports that the forward will only leave the club if Barcelona could find a deal that would benefit them, as well as finding a club that would improve on his current contract.

Joining Barcelona from Leganes in January 2020

, the Danish striker has made 40 appearances for the Blaugrana and has bagged three goals.

The 30-year-old striker had represented Esbjerg fB, Toulouse, Middlesborough, and Bordeaux previously.

In addition, he has also scored ten goals in 53 appearances for Denmark.
