Wolverhampton Wanderers
In July 2017, Gonçalves signed a two-year contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers from Valencia CF. On August 28, 2018, he made his only competitive debut for the first team, coming on as a 62nd-minute substitute for Elliot Watt in a 2–0 away win over Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup second round.
Famalicão
On July 2, 2019, Gonçalves returned to Portugal, signing a five-year contract with recently promoted
F.C. Famalicoalongside colleague Joo Caiado.

Portugalat the under-21 level, in a 4–0 win in Cyprus in the UEFA European Championship qualifications for 2021. He scored twice against Gibraltar (3–0) in another away match for the same competition on October 13th.
Fernando Santos chose Gonçalves for his UEFA Euro 2020 squad in May 2021, after he had previously competed in the first stage of the under-21 finals, which had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
