CAF warns about the second leg match between Al-Ahly and Esperance
Fears of chaos recurring and an organizational message with the potential attendance of the FIFA president
Officials of the African Football Confederation “CAF” issued a warning message before the second leg match in the final of the African Champions League between Al-Ahly of Egypt and its guest, Esperance of Tunisia, scheduled to be held next Saturday at Cairo Stadium.
An informed source at CAF mentioned that there were contacts between officials in CAF and the Egyptian Federation for the necessity of early coordination for the second leg match between Al-Ahly and Esperance to avoid repeating what happened in the second leg match of the final of the African Confederation Cup between Zamalek of Egypt and Renaissance Berkane of Morocco, which witnessed chaos after the match.
The source added: “CAF will not allow the repetition of the organizational and security errors that marred the Confederation Cup match, and requested to review all the organization and security plans for the final match between Al-Ahly and Esperance, especially with the attendance of the president of the International Football Federation Gianni Infantino.”
The source indicated that CAF sent a warning message to Al-Ahly through the officials of the Egyptian Federation to avoid any problems in the final match.
CAF issued an official statement condemning the violations that occurred in the final of the Confederation Cup between Zamalek and Renaissance Berkane, where Zamalek won the title after defeating the Moroccan team 1-0 in Cairo, after losing 2-1 in Morocco.
It is worth mentioning that the first leg match between Al-Ahly and Esperance ended in a goalless draw in Tunisia.
