Casillas Accused Barcelona of paying committee of referees to win the 2009 Champions League

Reportedly, Several payments were made by the Catalans to José María Enríquez Negreira who was the vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees at the time. They made these payments from 2016 to 2018, transferring more than €1.4 million.

Barcelona deny the charge, claiming that they broke no rules and did not want to take advantage of such deals. But 

Barcelona

's bitter rivals' former goalkeeper, Casillas, does not buy these claims and believes that Barca has bought match officials and referees to win the 2009 Champions league.

Gerard Pique

responded to Casillas's accusations, implying to Negreira Saga:

“I'll tell you one thing: if we let the cat out of the bag, we look at UEFA and the Champions League and there Real Madrid's [name] comes up.... all over the place.”

pointing out to Barcelona's victory in the 2009 Champions League semi final, Casillas said in response to Pique: “

What you guys have to do is to be quiet. That was one of the biggest robberies people have ever seen in football.”
