Lalas reacting to Marsch's Saints links: Potential Shakespearean drama

Sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table 4 points away from the safety zone, Jesse Marsch has been linked with Southampton's dugout less than a month after getting fired from Leeds United.

Former USMNT player, Alexis Lalas believes Jesse Marsch can turn things around at Southampton as the club faces a relegation battle.

"Jesse Marsch's Southampton currently sits in last place and 4 points out of safety,"

Lalas wrote on Twitter. "

He has 16 EPL games remaining with 6 vs. bottom half EPL teams, including Leeds, West Ham, and Bournemouth. I don't know if he's got gas, cigarettes, or sunglasses...but hit it.

"Under Jesse Marsch would actually have something that makes me care about Southampton. Potential Shakespearean drama down the stretch."

Marsch took over in February 2022 after Bielsa was fired and helped Leeds United barely fight off relegation on the last day to finish 17th. The situation hasn’t gotten better this season, with Leeds losing key players like Raphinha and Kalvin Philips.

The club has spent £129m in the transfer market this season, with the acquisition of the likes of Rutter, Wober, and McKennie. But Leeds is currently avoiding the relegation zone just by one point.
