Firmino reveals his intention of staying at Anfield and extending his contract

With only a few months remaining on his current contract, Firmino has declared his intention to stay at Liverpool

While

Liverpool

and Firmino representatives have discussed a contract extension for the Brazilian in the past few months, they haven’t gone forward with their plans as of yet. But now, Firmino himself has expressed his wish to stay at the club by saying “I intend to stay”.

The 31-year-old Brazilian was recently linked with a move to Al Nassr, where he’d join Cristiano Ronaldo, but it looks like he has other plans, as he revealed to Liverpool magazine.

"It’s incredible playing high-level football here with great players, stars of the game,”

Firmino told the official Liverpool magazine.

“I’m happy here and I intend to stay here and help Liverpool FC. It’s a dream for all players to win the Premier League and Champions League. It’s history, a huge legacy. When it happened, we felt tremendously privileged, grateful to God for having given this to us."

Firmino

’s desire to stay at the club is in line with what Jurgen Klopp wants from the player too, since the German has also talked about wanting a possible extension to Firmino’s contract.

It seems like an agreement with the club and the player is imminent. Despite the positive talks about the future though, Firmino remains sidelined with a calf injury and won’t be able to face Chelsea when Liverpool clash with them on Saturday.
