Police charge Newcastle star Joelinton with drink-driving

The 26-year-old midfielder was reportedly pulled over by police on Thursday and was arrested for testing over the prescribed limit for alcohol.

Joelinton

was reportedly arrested for drink-driving on Thursday, and hence he will appear in court at the end of January.

A spokesperson from Northumbria Police stated:

"Shortly before 01:20 am today, officers pulled over a vehicle in the Ponteland Road area of Newcastle and arrested the occupant.

"Joelinton Cassio, 26, of Ponteland, has since been charged with driving whilst above the prescribed limit for alcohol."

He's supposed to stand in front of the court on January 26, which is in between the Magpies' EFL Cup semi-final matches against Southampton.
