Chelsea considers Alexis Mac Allister as Enzo Fernandez's alternative

It was reported earlier that Chelsea has started the negotiations with Benfica for Enzo Fernandez with the Portuguese club eying the player's full €120m release clause. Hence, it's been reported the Blues are considering Mac Allister as Fernandez's more affordable option.

Enzo Fernandez

scored 12 goals in 51 matches for River Plate and joined Benfica on a five-year deal for €10 million last summer. It was reported earlier that

Chelsea

has started advanced negotiations with Benfica for Fernandez.

Chelsea wants to offer a huge fee instead of paying a release clause while Benfica insists on the player’s full €120m release clause which would be a new club record for the Blues.

Now according to

the Times

, Todd Boehly is preparing a contingency plan to sign Fernandez's Argentina teammate,

Alexis Mac Allister

. The Brighton midfielder's contract is due to expire in 2025 as he'll be a more affordable option.

Europe's top clubs including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle have been linked with Fernandez following his impressive performances at the World Cup but it’s reported Chelsea is the frontrunner to sign him.
