Philippe Coutinho rubbishes Aston Villa exit rumors

After being fallen out of Unai Emery's favor at Aston Villa, the Brazilian midfielder was linked with a move to his homeland. However, he labels the rumors as "lies" in a social media post.

After his horrendous spell at Barcelona,

Philippe Coutinho

joined Villa initially on loan as he impressed during the spell, convincing the Premier League club to make his stay permanent, signing a four-year deal with the club.

However, the Brazilian only managed six Premier League starts so far this season without contributing a goal or assist. Despite the reports linking the 30-year-old midfielder with a January move to Corinthians, Coutinho insists he'll stay put at

Aston Villa

.

"

In the last few days I've seen a lot of news with my name,"

he said in an Instagram post.

"The problem is now that some lies have started, and I'm here to clarify.

"Never, and at any moment, [have I] had any kind of conversation asking to leave the club, because I'm happy here and my family [are] too.

"My only focus now that I've recovered from injury is to work at the maximum every day, to play [at] a high level, and help the club and my team-mates to achieve our goals."
