'Of course, it was frustrating but I am following God's plan' – says Firmino about Brazil World Cup snub
Bobby Firmino is using his World Cup snub as fuel to continue performing for Liverpool
Even though he scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists for Liverpool prior to the World Cup,
Roberto Firminowas left out of Tite’s World Cup squad but he doesn’t let the disappointment get to him even though he admittedly was shocked to be snubbed for the tournament.
“Of course it was frustrating not being called up to the World Cup but as I’ve said before that’s part of God’s plan and I am following God’s plan. It really does motivate me more and more not having gone to the World Cup so I will work hard to get back into the Selecao,"
Firmino has told talkSPORT.
The 31-year-old was left out Liverpool’s squad for their return to action against Manchester City in the EFL Cup as well as their Premier League return against Aston Villa but he confirms that he is now ready to play again.
“I’m already healed, thank God. I’ll probably train tomorrow [Thursday]. Then all being well I’ll be ready not for the next game but the one after that. So all great,"
Firmino added.
Despite his statement, Firmino is likely to miss
Liverpool’s next clash with Leicester City on Friday but he could return to action against Brentford on January 2.
