Guardiola was offered the Brazil job according to Ronaldo

R9 claims that Pep Guardiola was offered to take the helm at Selecao after the 2022 World Cup

The legendary Ronaldo Nazario has revealed that

Brazil

recently approached Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to take over Tite’s job after the 2022 World Cup.

Their plans were shot down as Guardiola renewed his contract at

Manchester City

and now Brazil must find a suitable replacement for Tite, as the 61-year-old has already stepped down following Brazil’s shock defeat at the hands of Croatia in World Cup quarter-finals.

"There was interest in Guardiola; it was discussed with Guardiola's coaching staff, but he preferred to renew his contract with City,"

Ronaldo revealed via his YouTube channel.

"Perhaps it would be difficult for the CBF to reach an agreement; he is the highest-paid coach in the world."

he added.

With the deal now out of reach, Ronaldo has backed Fluminense coach Fernando Diniz to take over Tite’s job as Diniz is referred to as the "Brazilian Guardiola".

"Perhaps Diniz would be an attraction for the Brazilian national team,"

Ronaldo added. "

He's a guy who plays well, puts on a show.

"It is a very important decision for the next cycle. The sooner you present the name and start working on the philosophy of the coach, the better it will be. And we'll see. I'm curious. I think big names are coming here."
