Flick wants Germany to improve despite praising Fullkrug
Germany managed a win over Oman by the thinnest margin with Niclas Fullkrug’s debut goal, but manager Hansi Flick issued his concerns over Germany’s performance
Germany made a hard work of it when they faced Oman in Muscat on Wednesday night, as Die Mannschaft only managed a 1-0 victory following Fullkrug’s debut goal.
Speaking to the RTL, following the match, Hansi Flick admitted that he was happy to see Fullkrug score but also pointed out his team’s shortcomings as well.
"He deserved the goal. He had two or three other shots also. You could already feel when he was on the pitch, there was a presence up front."
Die Mannschaft managed to win only 38.4% of their duels against Oman last night and even though Flick wants his players to improve in that area he also thinks that this might be due to players not wanting to be injured so close to the tournament.
"Of course you have to say, if you see how we tackled in duels, that's not the level we want at the World Cup. But you can also understand that no one wants to hurt themselves.
"
Despite
Germany’s perceived caution during the match, RB Leipzig defender Lukas Klosterman limped off during the first half and may lose the tournament entirely.
Germany will face
Japanin Group E on November 23 before matches against
Spainand
Costa Ricain what is believed to be the toughest group in the World Cup.
