Bayern Munich star
Sadio Manehas been included in Senegal's final squad for the World Cup, despite suffering a serious injury in his side’s 6-1 victory over Werder Bremen.
Being key in
Senegal's AFCON triumph last year, Senegalese Federation board member Abdoulaye Sow revealed Sadio Mane will miss the first World Cup matches as he suffered a fibula injury this month.
Sow stated:
"Senegal will have to cope without its best player for the start of the tournament and not whine too much.
"We will have to rely on playing the first games without Sadio and win without Sadio because we have 25 players apart from Sadio.
"No one would have wanted it, but that's what's happened to us."
The 30-year-old
Mane
is Senegal's record goalscorer, with 34 goals in 93 matches. Senegal begins their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on 21 November. They then will play Qatar and Ecuador.
