Lucas Vazquez blames the referee for Real Madrid’s loss at Vallecano

Real has not won their last two league games and now is in second place, two points behind Barcelona as they suffered their first defeat of the season on Monday to Rayo Vallecano. The Los Blancos’ veteran Vazquez slams poor refereeing for their defeat.

After their surprising 3-2 defeat against Rayo Vallecano on Monday,

Real Madrid

lost the top spot in La Liga and now is two points behind Barcelona.

Madrid forward,

Lucas Vazquez

, criticized the VAR and officials and claimed that they have not been consistent in their decisions this season. The referee allowed Vallecano’s Oscar Trejo to retake the penalty saved by

Thibaut Courtois

after VAR told the referee the Belgian was off his line.

“I don’t know if the penalty has been repeated because of Courtois or because someone enters the area, as happens in all games. We should be just as rigorous on every occasion,”

Vazquez told

DAZN

.

"It was a complicated game, they got ahead very quickly, and although we turned it around, they equalized again and that hurt us.

"It was difficult for us to find our football, and Rayo is a complicated team that today has been very good.

"But they [the referee and the VAR] send Trejo to shoot again and in other games they don't, they should always be just as rigorous."

Real Madrid plays with

Cadiz

on Thursday at home in their final game before the World Cup in Qatar.
