Breaking: Brazil international Antony joins Manchester United for £86m

Antony was key in Erik ten Hag's title-winning campaigns in the Netherlands, and with the newly-appointed Manchester United boss keen on a reunion with the Brazilian, the Red Devils finally signed the Ajax star for a reported £86m deal after weeks of negotiation.

Manchester United

officially confirmed the signature of

Ajax's

22-year-old winger, Antony, on a reported £85m deal as the

Brazilian

remained the Red Devils' priority target through the summer, and after weeks of negotiations with the

Eredivisie

side, United has finally reached an agreement to sign the winger.

An important part of Ajax's marvelous performance last season,

Antony

scored 12 goals and set up 10 more to help the team win the league and advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Schreuder confirmed in a pre-match interview that Antony was left out due to not being in the right state of mind to play.

The statement on the

club’s official website

reads:

“Manchester United has reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Antony, subject to a medical, player terms being finalized, and international clearance.

“Antony has 31 goals and 27 assists in 134 club appearances for Ajax and Sao Paulo, and two goals and two assists in nine senior appearances for his native Brazil. He has won two Eredivisie titles, and a gold medal in the 2020 Summer Olympics.”

After back-to-back Premier League victories over Southampton and Liverpool, Manchester United will next face

Leicester City

away on Thursday.
