Everton pen with Burnley’s Tarkowski as their first summer signing

The England player is going to be the first signing of the summer for Frank Lampard’s side as his contract reached its end at Turf Moor.

Everton

have finished their first signing of the summer after announcing that

James Tarkowski

will arrive at the club from

Burnley

.

The England international has joined Everton on a free transfer since his contract at Turf Moor expired and his six-and-a-half-year spell came to an end.

The 29-year-old could not put an end to Burnley’s relegation suffer last season but he will stay in the Premier League after penning a contract with Frank Lampard’s side.

After having his medical done, he has signed a four-year deal, which keeps him at the club until 2026.

Although they narrowly escaped relegation last season, Lampard is keen on getting the team to fight for the top half for the next one.

Last season, the club’s main concern was Defence. Michael Keane and Mason Holgate were criticized, with Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey also hitting the team hard.

Tarkowski has a lot of experience that he can add to the backline, having played in 194 Premier League matches.

Everton seem to be having a busy summer as Lampard sees many holes to fill should he aim to avoid relegation for the next season. They need to strengthen Central midfield, with Tottenham’s Harry Winks being linked with a move to the club.

Reports also claim that Arsenal and Newcastle are eyeing a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and he might depart the club. Moreover, Richarlison has left for Tottenham on a deal worth £60.
