Manchester United

announced that

Jesse Lingard

will depart the club when his contract reaches its end.

His deal will reach its end when June runs over and the midfielder, who is product of United’s youth system, had long been ready to take up a new challenge.

United confirmed on Wednesday that the 29-year-old will depart, following Paul Pogba out the exit door.

He asked for a move away in January but United wanted to cash in on the England international.

However, Lingard, who joined West Ham in the 2020-21 season, meeting the back of the net nine times in 16 games in the league as David Moyes’ men got the Europa League qualification, but he only was in the starting XI twice this season.

He played in 22 matches and found the back of the net twice, with his last goal coming in the battle against West Ham on his return to London Stadium in September 2021.

Generally, Lingard featured in 232 matches for Manchester United, netting 35 goals.

West Ham were interested in signing the player last year, while Newcastle United also looked keen to acquire his services.
