Barcelona 0-1 Cadiz: Barca’s league winning streak came to an end

Barcelona's eight-game winning streak in the La Liga has come to an end thanks to a 1-0 loss at home to struggling Cádiz on Monday night. This was Barcelona's second home loss in a row after losing against Frankfurt on Thursday.

Cadiz

had a big chance in the 27th minute but Lucas, who was unmarked in front of Barca’s goal, slides his effort wide of the post.

The first half finished goalless between

Barcelona

and Cadiz. The hosts dominated possession and created a couple of good chances but Cadiz had the best chance.

Cadiz scored three minutes after the halftime break when Lucas Perez bundled home a rebound near the goal line after Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen stopped back-to-back efforts on the Barca goal.

Dembele was close to equalizing in the 68th minute but Cadiz's keeper saved his powerful shot. Cadiz came close to scoring again in the 76th minute but Alex shot was just wide of the near post.

Cadiz had a good chance through counter attack but Ter Stegen tips Sobrino’s effort over the bar. Aubameyang was close to scoring with a volley but Cadiz's keeper Ledesma reflexively pushes it away.

Barca is in second place after 31 games, 15 points behind

LaLiga

leaders Real Madrid.

Cadiz emerged from the third and final relegation spot with this victory, jumping above Mallorca and Granada. They now sit two points above the drop zone.
