Ronaldo opens up about his transfer from Barcelona to Inter

Ronaldo, the Brazilian great, explains the truth about his 1997 transfer to Inter from Barcelona and expresses his desire for the Nerazzurri to claim the Scudetto this season.

Ronaldo talked to Sky Sport Italia from Madrid, and

Alessandro Del Piero

will do another interview with the iconic number nine tonight for the Italian networks.

Ronaldo is currently the Chairman of Valladolid and Cruzeiro, and he acknowledges that he intends to follow in the footsteps of Massimo Moratti and Florentino Perez, who served as his predecessors.

“As a president, I must do important things, but during my career as a footballer, I had many great masters, from Moratti, who was like a father to me, and Florentino Perez, who reinvented football with the Galacticos,” he said.

Ronaldo joined Inter from

Barcelona

in 1997 and stayed there until 2002 when he moved to Real Madrid. With the Nerazzurri, he netted 59 goals in 99 matches, but his stint in Milan was cut short due to two significant knee injuries.

“I had reached an agreement to extend with Barcelona, but after four days, the President called me to say that it was impossible to go ahead,” he revealed.

“I said that I was free to negotiate with other clubs and Inter were quick to pay my release clause.

Serie A

was the best league in the world.

“The race for the title is so good this season. I think Inter are playing better and I hope they can win again. For the

Champions League

, Real Madrid are the favorite. They are not in a great moment, but they are in sync with this competition and Ancelotti is one of the best coaches in the world.

“Karim Benzema deserves the Ballon d’Or. I’ve been saying it for many years and I was criticized for it, but he deserves it.”

At the end of his career, Ronaldo also donned the Milan shirt, collecting nine goals in 20 games for the Rossoneri.
