Al Wahda part ways with Henk Ten Cate
The Emirati club have terminated the contract of their Dutch manager by mutual consent.
Henk Ten Cate was appointed as Al Wahda’s manager upon the sacking of Vuk Rasovic in March. The Dutchman managed to improve the Damascene Orange’s attacking line during his short period at the club, but elimination from the Asian Champions League was enough to end his spell at the Emirati side.
On Monday, Al Wahda announced on their Twitter
accountthat they have terminated the contract of Henk ten Cate by mutual consent.
Ten Cate joined Al Wahda after spending one year at the Saudi side Al Ittihad. The 66-year-old has worked as the manager of Ajax, in addition to spending short spells as an assistant coach at Barcelona and Chelsea.
The Dutch manager led Al Wahda to the AFC Champions League quarter-finals, where his side were crushed 5-1 by Al Nassr on October 16.
Having collected 11 points in their first seven matches of the UAE Pro League, Al Wahda are currently sixth in the domestic league. The Abu Dhabi side finally ended their run of five consecutive draws by defeating Emirates with a 4-1 result on Sunday, but it was not enough to save Ten Cate’s job.
