Diego Carlos promises that failed move to Chelsea won't affect Kounde

Monchi recently revealed that Kounde turned down several offers - one of which was from Tottenham - but Chelsea were the club he wanted to go to.

However,

the Blues eventually fell short in the negotiations

as Sevilla held out for the player's €80million release clause.

Bringing down an opponent with a wild challenge inside the opening hour of the game, the France international was sent off during

his side’s World Cup qualifier against Bosnia

.

However, his Sevilla colleague, Diego Carlos, believes the transfer failure won’t affect Kounde’s performance.

“Kounde is a great friend of mine, an excellent player, one of the best defenders out there today,

” the Frenchman’s partner at centre-back at the Sanchez-Pizjuan, Diego Carlos, told

Marca

“I’ve been talking a lot with him, he’s a player who’s been growing every day and is prepared to compete at any club, but his head is in Seville. He’s calm, and an excellent player.”

Sevilla’s sporting director,

Monchi

said about the player’s situation

 with the club yesterday:

“Most of [the approaches were] rejected by the player himself but there was a club that he liked, which was Chelsea.

"The first and only formal offer was last Wednesday, around five in the afternoon, with an amount that did not satisfy our desires and conditional on Chelsea selling a player.

“It was an important offer, considering the current world where there are so many hardships, but it did not meet our demands, conditions, or quantities.”
